Who are we:
I’m Adam Beckerton, a third‑generation upholsterer based in Peterborough.
My journey began in my grandfather’s workshop, learning the fundamentals of upholstery by hand. Over two decades, I’ve built Premier Upholstery into a thriving local business trusted by private clients, commercial outfits, and interior designers across the UK.
Every day, I work with diverse pieces such as sofas, chairs, dining chairs, headboards, electric recliners, ottomans. My skill set includes fabric sewing, pattern matching, frame rebuilding, cushion foam work, and specialist material handling (vinyl, leather, faux leather). I’ve upholstered thousands of items, mastering both basic projects and intricate custom builds.
One of my highlights has been providing independent assessments for insurance and manufacturer disputes, travelling to inspect furniture, deconstruct problems, and offer unbiased professional reports. My ability to communicate clearly and assess honestly has earned a reputation for integrity and excellence in the industry.
Currently, I’m pursuing an engineering degree, feeding a lifelong ambition, while continuing to work part‑time, focusing on smaller upholstery jobs to support my studies. This shift allows me to deepen my engineering knowledge while still delivering expert craftsmanship to my clients.
Looking ahead, I plan to launch teaching workshops and custom chair builds, combining my love of education and design. My goal is to pass on my years of upholstery skills to a new generation and to create bespoke furniture that blends aesthetics, comfort, and engineering know‑how.
